Los sabandeños sevillanas canarias
San borondón los sabandeños
On the main altar was under a red embroidered canopy the image of the Virgin of Candelaria profusely illuminated with balanced candelabra with white candles. On the sides of the presbytery were placed on the right the banner of the Sevillian Brotherhood and on the left the gold-embroidered Guion of the Virgin of Candelaria, with a reproduction of the image of the Canary Islands. This insignia was donated by the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife to the Sevillian Brotherhood and is part of the penitential procession on Holy Tuesday.
The president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Ricardo Melchior Navarro, the delegate of Major Festivities, Rosamar Prieto, and the president of the Canarian Home in Seville, Purificación Benavente, were present at this celebration on this extraordinary day of the triduum, and were received by the elder brother of the Brotherhood of Candelaria, José María Cuadro.
Canary islands – pasodoble – los sabandeños
The Canary Islands pavilion reflected the importance of the islands in history and in the future, presenting the Canary Islands as the center of gravity of three continents. The visitor therefore had the impression of traveling through time, from the 15th to the 21st century, discovering the genesis of the volcanoes, the sound of the wind and other characteristic elements of the islands.
Another of the pieces that made up the prehistoric exhibition was the <<Idol of Tara>>, the goddess or god of fertility, both of the human being and of the earth, since it was not known exactly what her sex was and utensils that the Guanches used in their daily life.
And from the area of Prehistory to that of <<Canary Islands today>>. In it the visitor had at his disposal four user-friendly computers that offered information on various aspects of life in the Canary Islands: economy, tourism, history, geographical location of the different islands.
Another area of the pavilion introduced visitors to the origin and volcanic nature of the Canary archipelago and the adaptation of the population to the environment. An overview was given of the importance of volcanoes in the Canary Islands and the benefits that had been derived from them. The central element was a volcanic segment reproduced at real scale from the Cueva del Viento, located in Icod de los Vinos in Tenerife.
Los sabandeños “sevillanas canarias”.
Dacio, arrived at that unforgettable stall, like a fighting cock. During the trip from Tenerife to Gran Canaria, in the Jet-foil he had written one of the coplas that he later interpreted in the program that constituted the recording of the first disc, in direct, of TVE and whose collection – more than six million of the old pesetas – would be delivered to the authorities of La Gomera to alleviate that terrible fire that devastated the island of La Gomera…
Dacio had no limits. He hit everything and he did it marvelously? It was poetry and feeling that he knew how to print and express when he was among friends or on stage… Zamba, guaranias, rancheras…
