The nine hospitals of the Canary Health Service (SCS) now have a free wifi network for use by patients, workers and citizens in general, after concluding the testing phase following the installation of 544 connection points that cover large areas of the main buildings.
“The aim of providing this service is to make it easier for patients and the general public to use the technology and connections of a service belonging to the Canary Health Service,” says Moreno, who explains that “the bandwidth is the maximum allowed by current legislation, because the SCS is not a telecommunications operator but a health service.
This will allow users to consult their e-mails or social networks without any problem, as well as visit any website, although they may have difficulties downloading large files or videos.
Roberto Moreno explains that before launching this service, several studies were carried out on the best possible location and access in all the hospital areas, and that the collaboration of the respective management departments was decisive.

In any case, he explained that on the basis of this first project and seeing how it is used by the users, the coverage areas and the information services that can be offered can be extended or modified”.

The categories of data to be processed are email, cell phone, and the activity log linked to the identification data; which come from the data subject and the system that provides the Wifi service to the citizen. Armario escobero
